6 weeks ago this day seemed so far away but now it is here, the eve of our last day in the big city! And it's odd to say but I think we may actually miss our little apartment. Yes, it's been a pain at times...packing and unpacking every weekend, not having an oven, missing the amenities of my kitchen to cook, no crib for Jake, etc. Oh yeah, no wireless internet...haha, yes, we are spoiled!! But we have also had a lot of fun times, trips to St. Lawrence market (and the peameal on a bun!!), Queen's Quay, CN Tower, lunch and visits at Tracey's, walking around the city, discovering new places, and of course Jim's trips to the street vendors for spicy sausage on a bun (thanks Jim for always leaving a bit with only mustard and no hot peppers for me!)
Even just thinking about the milestones in Jake's life that happened here, he turned 6 months, got his first 2 teeth, tried cereal for the first time in this apartment, ate fruits and vegetables, started sitting up, turned 7 months...hey, 6 weeks in a babies life...a lot can happen!
We have also had the privilege of meeting many wonderful people in the radiation waiting room. Barb was one lady who came over to show us a picture of Jake's future wife, we got to talk to her on more than one occasion. Scott is a younger man who lives in Toronto, his mom is here cooking for him so he eats and doesn't lose too much weight. And many more people who were happy and smiled when we would walk by with Jake, everyone loves a baby! It's funny sitting in a waiting room every day you see the personality of Jake, he can be so eager to get someones attention, craning his neck to be seen, making his little sounds 'look at me!'..and of course they do and he loves to give them bug huge smiles. The radiation tech's (I don't think they are nurses) were amazing, always friendly and willing to accommodate us and our schedule and always made time to talk to Jake...the jury is out on who 'charmed' them more..Jim or Jake.
I know Jim is happy that tomorrow is his last day, as he says it hasn't been too bad but let's just say he won't miss it! So with the good and the bad...we both agree it's been a good experience and another chapter in our journey together.
